Closing the gender health gap: women’s health wins worth celebrating in 2021

By Antonia Kanczula, Managing Editor

It’s that time of the year when people love to indulge in retrospective round-ups and here at Thrive, we thought we’d get in on the action. We’ve long lamented the gender health gap, but 2021 was the year that it finally got the spotlight it warrants – and even closed a little too. Let’s face it, we can’t undo generations of inequality in 12 months. There’s still plenty of hard graft to do, difficult issues to be confronted and voices to be heard. But we can toast the hard-fought triumphs. From the end of the tampon tax to better access to HRT, the contraceptive pill and treatments to prevent early miscarriage, let’s embrace the wins and look ahead to even more progress in 2022.
